Treatment
Occasionally Dry wood termites can be spot treated without the need for tenting. Our inspector will inspect your property . After the visual inspection the technician will discuss treatment options. Often times tenting or some other treatment is the better way to go. Most times, the extermination requires either erecting a huge colored tent over the house or structure and pumping gas into the tent or the newer method of heat to treat or fumigate the termite colony. This is a very costly process, and their is no residual benefit to having your home fumigated.
Distribution/Habits
Drywood termites need no link to the soil to obtain the water needed to support the colony. They live in wood with a low moisture content -- 12% or less Dry Wood termites do not build mud tunnels. Although the colonies are smaller, they can still do a lot of damage to a home. And the worst thing about this type is that they are virtually impossible to detect and locate inside a structure.
They deposit their fecal matter called fecal pellets in the chambers. Colors are black and or gold
Dry wood termites can SOMETIMES be spot treated. Other methods like tenting or some new methods like heat treatments may be needed.
